What to Expect When Camping in the Everglades
Taking a trip to the Everglades is one thing, camping in the Everglades is an entirely other matter! When you head down to Florida for your family vacation, make sure that you are putting your trip into good hands. The Trail Lakes Campground is an exciting place to stay at for a variety of reasons. Guests with their own camping gear are welcome to settle down in one of the many sites nestled throughout the campground area. For a more refined experience, guests are encouraged to take a look at renting a traditional Chickee hut or a private cabin.
During the summer months (June - September) the bugs will be prominent, so please be sure to bring ample bug protection. Other times of the year however, we don't experience too much of an issue aside from the regular encounter with no see ums around sunrise and sunset. If you need extra bug protection upon arrival, check the front gift shop area from 9am-5pm or the night office from 5pm-9pm.
While some of our sites have fire rings and picnic tables, others do not. All placement for sites with these amenities are first come first serve.
Our bath house with hot water is open and available to all paying guests 24/7. Water access for hookups/ personal use is available on all sites with electricity.
IMPORTANT: NO GAS POWERED OFF ROAD VEHICLES ARE ALLOWED OFF TRAILER OR OPERATED IN THE CAMPGROUND PROPERTY.
